Reffing was terrible tonight

The Canucks have been on a roll lately, but they lost in a shootout tonight to the Oilers 5-4. The Oilers started out strong, played with a purpose, and the 1st period ended 3-1. However, the Canucks came back in the 2nd and scored despite a Canucks parade to the penalty box. While I felt that most of the penalties were fair, the Nucks got a serious raw deal from the refs. They deserved a few as well, but no Oiler penalties were called until it was make up time in the third period. Regardless, they took a 4-3 lead on a beautiful Naslund shot on the PP. The Oilers tied it on another PP. Get the picture?

In the end, the Oil won it on another shootout. 5 of their 8 wins this season have been in shootout. While that's great for them, I don't think many other teams have benefitted from the new OT rules as much as they have.

yeah...but there is a catch on the rule, it is that, thw OT win is not quite a win even though they still get two points cuz the other teams do get one point. That is why it is so hard to make up ground thesedays and the new rule, i think, actually benefit the team who lose in the shootout.

Anyway, back to teh Nucks. I think they fighta good battle, goaltending was totally MVP calibre..and we came back with two 2-goal defecit, so i am happy we got one point, just a little disaapointed on the shootout. Again, Linden PROVED to us once again, he shines in clutch time as he scores the only shootout goal for us and that would have been the game-winner. Anyone who said Linden is useless, they know nuthing about hockey, or even team sport. Just my two cents.

Well, Linden might not be useless yet, but his time is coming and I hope he realizes when it will be time for him to hang it up.
